WHAT’S UP ABOUT LOVEFEST 10? THEME? ANNIVERSARY

In its tenth year, LoveFest is happy to announce their preliminary 2012 lineup, focusing on the topic: Divine Design. Held on February 11 and 12 in Arcadia, CA, LoveFest 10: Divine Design guarantees to be of interest to all in attendance with compelling discussion and entertainment where youth and adults can examine the challenges facing teens in their daily life. Hosted by Senior Pastor, Rev. Roger R. Sonnenberg of Our Savior Lutheran Church, LoveFest will feature Chaos Theory’s Clint Thomas and Aaron Davis, Pam Stenzel, Dr. Micah Parker and Karen Kropf as keynote speakers, and Dove-Award winning BarlowGirl as Saturday entertainment.

In keeping with this year’s theme, creator of the long-running topical event, Pastor Sonnenberg states that LoveFest 10: Divine Design is based on the verse Psalm 139:14: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” He states that through God’s divine design of the human body, attendees will hear that upon creating the world and everything in it, especially that of the human body and soul that is capable of relationship, intimacy, love, and the ability to reproduce—God said, “It was good.”

For the last ten years, Our Savior Lutheran Church has annually sponsored a weekend known as LoveFest where top speakers and workshop presenters from throughout the United States have addressed thousands of teenagers and adults on sex and sexuality. Sonnenberg goes on to state that the event’s purpose is simply to share God’s truths as He has commanded, “teaching them to observe everything (He) has commanded” (Matt. 28:20). The event has attracted thousands of people each year throughout the United States and Canada.

LoveFest 10: Divine Design will continue its necessary, honest and frank conversations for teens on the topic of abstinence, as well as straightforward discussions about sex that too often the church shies away from. This year’s breakout sessions also include classes and topics for teens, young adults AND parents, on "Body Image & Identity," "Addiction," “Marriage,” “Grief: Healing the Brokenhearted,” “Sexting,” “TABOO: Tattoos, Piercings, Etc.,” "How Do You Know If You're In Love," “Pornography,” “Depression,” "Internet Dangers," "Connecting with your Kids or Vice Versa," & more.

AUDIENCE/ATTENDANCE

This event has a reach of attendees throughout North America. Limited to an attendance of 1000 people, the audience has comprised of attendees mostly from the Western United States (California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington). However, attendees have come from Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Canada.

The limit in attendance to 1000 people is a two-fold response: (1) the event location, on our church grounds, can comfortable handle this number of attendees. We feel that it is important that the event always be held at a church. We find that there are attendees who are not Christians and this is their first experience of being on a church grounds. LoveFest has been an excellent resource for outreach and bringing people to our Lord is an important part of this ministry. (2) With 1000 attendees, we can manage the size of the smaller ‘breakout sessions’ that take place during the day. Attendees within these classroom settings have a manageable number of students-to-teacher ratios. This allows for a comfortable setting that helps initiate questions and conversation during these breakout sessions.

Audience is split 50/50 in several ways….audience is split in half between male and female. Also, the age is split between tweens/teens and adults. Ages range from 10 years old up into the high 90’s (I think our oldest attendee is 94 years old!). Classes are set to cover all attendees – the breakout sessions comprise topics focused at tweens, teens, college students, young adults, parents, grandparents, teachers, pastors, youth pastors, etc.
